The Schrade SCHF16 is an inexpensive fixed blade that can do it all 鈥?whether you wear it as a neck knife around town or take it on an excursion into the woods.
This 4.6-ounce general utility knife comes in at an overall length of 7 inches. The black-coated blade is 3.1 inches and made from 9Cr18MoV high carbon stainless steel, a budget alloy that is easy to sharpen and resists corrosion.
As a cross between a drop point and clip point profile, the blade has a nice cutting belly and piercing point. Jimping along聽the spine allows for more control during finer tasks.
The full tang extends down into the handle where it is sandwiched by contoured G-10 scales. Texture along the scales coupled with a finger guard keeps the hand securely in place and prevents it from sliding forward onto the blade. An exposed tang also features a lanyard hole.
The fixed blade comes with a thermoplastic sheath that secures the knife while allowing for quick and easy access. You can hang it around your neck or attach it to a pack.
